A Few Words
About Me
Zoe Pullman
Kia ora, my name is Zoe Pullman, and I firmly believe that your family history and whakapapa (genealogy) are taonga tuku iho – treasures from your ancestors that deserve to be nurtured, protected and passed on to those who come after you.
One of my favourite whakataukī (proverbs) is ‘Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua’, which translates to ‘I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past’. We carry our past with us, it both shapes our identity, and influences our future. Therefore our family history should be treated with reverence and respect. Rest assured that I will treasure your family history as I would my own.
What started out as a project to document my own family history several years ago, soon became a passion, and is now something I can help you with.
I have Māori whakapapa (Ngāi Tahu iwi), along with English, Scottish, Irish, French, and Swiss/Italian!
I have a Masters degree in academic health psychology, with varied work experience as a policy analyst, a health educator, a lecturer and researcher. I have always loved history, people, and hearing their stories, so The Family Archives is a way for me to combine these things into a fulfilling business venture. I bring my academic writing, IT and research skills to the table, as well as my eye for detail.
I am currently studying to become a certified genealogist, and intend to expand the services that I offer over time.
I am a proud member of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, and the Association of Professional Genealogists, and abide by their best practice guidelines and codes of conduct.
